Seeing Double (2024) Storytelling performance, 2-channel sound

Ghinwa Yassine’s practice is a somatic engagement with story through space. She creates multi-media performances and installations for her feminist speculative writings. Incorporating humor and absurdity, she embodies characters or alter-egos that constitute what she calls feminist freedom futurity, a liminal space between embodying a militant activist and a Barbie girl–in her case, a belly dancer.

Seeing Double, is an apocalyptic reading/storytelling performance/auditory experience that blends fact and fiction, and is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and chaotic. As you sit back in your floor chairs, the artist will take you on a journey between Lebanon, Vancouver, and outer space, where your senses get titillated, and your imagination awakened.
