Synopsis:
This work that borrows from surrealism, is based on anachronistic autobiographical elements and is both about gender and displacement. In the aim at deconstructing narratives and decontextualizing personal histories, a poem about a girl’s struggle to fit her family’s ideal body image is juxtaposed to a scene where the grown-up narrator irons a shirt on the beach, an allusion to the familial history of running a men’s shirt factory, where less than perfect is not tolerated.
